PHOTOGRAPHY CHALLENGE - WEEK 26

Saturday, June 30, 2012

Hey there folks,

Did anyone else pick up that week 26 marks the half way point in our 366 Photography Challenge?...I know right?!

Work has been going gangbusters recently, so for some downtime & fresh air I took to the streets and discovered a wealth of inspiration within a 2 minute walking radius. My favourite was the park pictured on the 26th, infact I loved it so much I included a bonus photo at the end of the series. Fancy a visit head to the intersection of Princes & Shortland Street in Auckland's CBD.

Other discoveries included the Kohu Road Cafe pictured on the 30th with Kip going hell for leather on the ice cream. Our coffee group still catch up weekly and with six (or so) 2 year olds to keep entertained finding suitable establishments to meet during winter becomes an exercise in strategic planning. We are on the eternal quest for the most child friendly cafe, & this establishment may have just inched out Fernlea. Great food, great coffee & a caravan (like the one your grandparents had) kitted out with a DVD player & toys to entertain the sprogs. We'll be back...as in each weekend...seriously.

Finally - I'm often asked what camera I shoot on & what lens' I use. I have a Canon EOS 450D which was their entry level DSLR about 3 years ago. It's since been superseeded by the Canon 550D, so while you wont find it on the shop shelves you can pick one up online relatively cheaply.

I bought the camera with its two kitset lens' - EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens (which I shoot about 90% of my
pictures on at the moment) and the larger EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens (which I shoot the majority of my animal pictures on).

In addition I also have a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 which I ordinarily shoot on (as in 98% of the time) due to the colour quality and crispness.

Why Canon? No particular reason at the time, although I have shot on my friends Nikkon and I have to say I find the Canon more intuitive and easier to use.

So that's me...nothing fancy and it's by far and large the best $1,200 I've ever spent.

Hope you've had a great weekend!

Enjoy the pics
